Preschool – Kindergarden Program

We offer a Pre-school and Kindergarten program educating children from 33 months
to 6 years of age.

Our classrooms are all multi-age classrooms offering individualized work and direction. During the school day, student to teacher ratio is maintained at 8 to 1. Students are encouraged to work at their own pace. We celebrate each child’s unique gifts. Students are given the freedom to choose their own work, however, it is a “guided” freedom. Teachers are always mindful that all areas of study are touched upon so that every child can reach his/her potential.

We have a strong academic base in Literacy and Mathematics. 90% of our children are reading. Please note that our average age is 4!!! Our emerging readers are able to read simple books with one to three sentences per page, our higher level readers are able to read chapter books,ie “The Magic Treehouse”, and “Junie B. Jones” series. Mathematically, ALL of our children are able to add and subtract. The higher level students are able to add, subtract, re-group, multiply and divide.

We do not use age to determine what a child will be exposed to academically. The child is our guide, if he/she is ready for more, we will take them as far as they want to go. Our philosophy is “limitless education”.

Although our focus is academic, we are always mindful that they are children FIRST. We focus on the “total” child. We try to teach our children how to be independent by taking care of themselves and others around them. For example, putting on their own coats, snow gear, tying their own shoes, etc. A child that can do things for himself or herself is a child who is confident and strong.

Respect is key to our program. We try to instill in all of our children, respect for themselves, others, and their environment.

Miss Marie’s knows how important it is to keep the parents involved in their child’s daily activities, development and milestones. That’s why we
provide you the following:

• Parents have direct contact with their childs’ teacher daily.
• Report card detailing child’s progress both academically and socially and emotionally
• The building of personal relationships with each family
• Encouraging daily/weekly calls or emails from parents to our “family team”to support communication
• Open door facility; we promote parent visits to the center at anytime to observe or participate in their child’s day
