Hello, my name is Marie Zurick. I am the founder and Director of Miss Marie’s Learning Center. Welcome to our school! Educating children for the past fifteen years has been the best job that I have EVER had!

Opening this school has truly been a “labor of love” and a realization of a dream for me. I have always believed that children, when given the opportunity are able to achieve more than we adults can even imagine! I believe that each child should be given the chance to soar. For example; if a child is four, I would not say…”since you are four, these are the four things that you will learn this year and then we’ll stop.” I would say, …”You are four and we will learn four important things this year, but if you are ready to learn ten important things things this year, let’s GO!!!

I was very fortunate at a young age to have the opportunity to live overseas. I am of Portuguese and Dutch descent. I was born in Hong Kong, China, and immigrated to the United States when I was eight years old. By the time I was two years old, I was fluent in three different languages, English, Portuguese, and Chinese(Cantonese). In subsequent years I have been able to pick up Spanish and Mandarin Chinese. It is my firm belief that children who are taught to embrace many languages and cultures, tend to be more accepting and less fearful of those who are different than them. Our children, are faced with an ever”shrinking” world. A world which working with partners in different countries is more the norm than the exception.

Education has always been prized in my family. My parents instilled in my sister, brother and I the importance of education. My parents lived through World War II in the Pacific and the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong during the war years. My Father’s mantra was always, “Education is something that no one can take away from you.” This school in many ways is an “homage “ to him.

I have a Bachelor of Science in Business from Indiana University and a Montessori teaching certification. I was the Director of a private Montessori school here in Minnesota for eight years.

My proudest personal achievements have been my two children, Brandon and Christina. They are the great loves of my life. My husband Patrick is the Director of Research for a Company based in Canada. We have lived in Apple Valley for the past 20 years.
I invite all of you to tour us and see firsthand what my “MIRACLES” can do.
